Hecate

According to wikipedia, Hecate, like many other goddesses, covers many different areas. Here are the ones listed on this oh so reliable website: "childbirth, nurturing the young, gates and walls, doorways, crossroads, magic, lunar lore, torches, and dogs." Dogs? It just seems like the Greeks were looking for a god/goddess for a dog, played spin the bottle, and boom Hecate- goddess of the dog. That was just a random thought. One interesting idea that wiki gave was that Zeus honored the goddess Hecate over all others. It also points out that she is the known for her knowledge of herbs and plants. This makes a lot of sense since it was herbs that she gave Jason so that he would be godlike. She also one heck of a mediator working between the Olympians and the Titans as well as mortals and divine spheres. She is also represented in threes (Ill include a picture). This makes a lot of sense she seems to represent the three stages of a woman goddess. These are just some interesting things I've learned.
